Our honeymoon trip to Istanbul - city of two continents. We followed the Orient Express (t)rails and arrived by train. Definitely one of the must-see places on the World :)

We have 3 more weeks in front of us. We are taking train to Moscow and then another train trough Kiev to Slovakia. With some stopovers (Lake Baikal) we have still many things to see so stay with us :)

Beijing and the great Great Wall

End of our China trip - more than one week in Beijing (yes, we know it's too long in such a crazy place, but we simply got stuck in this nice but huuuuuuge city :-) ) - plus a day trip to less touristy parts of the Great Wall. Big thanks to Jose, Libuša and Franto for helping us to survive in that crazy city :-D

Naša čínska cesta bola zavŕšená (pre nás až) dlhodobým pobytom v Pekingu, odkiaľ sme si urobili jednodňový výletík, resp. túru k Veľkému Čínskemu múru.

Laos

Laos, once the Kingdom of Lan Xang or "Land of a Million Elephants" is one of the most spectacular countries we visited on our trip. We expected to see one of the poorest county in the region but thanks to the reforms (yes, done by communists!) and enormous increase in tourism (from 14,400 tourists visiting Laos in 1990, to 1.4 million in 2007) Laos is changing really fast. Electricity is reaching village by village, all the main roads are paved, the prices in high profile destinations are rising and the most common car is Toyota Hilux 4x4! Fortunately not the whole country seems to be not spoiled too much with all the tourists (like Thailand). It's still great to travel around and visit the cultural centres, colourful tribes or jump on one of the old noisy river boats :)

Thailand the land of smiles (ok Myanmar should gain this superlative) has been fun from beginning to end - from sea to metropolitan Bangkok up to hills. We've been there twice, but may come back third time...

Thajsko - krajina úsmevov (hoci tento prívlastok si právom zaslúži skôr Mjanmar...) bola úžasná od začiatku do konca a od mora cez metropolitný Bangkok až po hory. Boli sme tu dva krát a možno sa ešte raz zastavíme :)

The bestest 28 days of our journey (so far). Myanmar has the loveliest people on the world with amazing honest smile :).

During our trip we did our best to give as least $ as possible to not support the greedy fat generals who rules the country. In the end we realized that our way of traveling is not the cash cow for them but the 60+ European package holidayers who sleep in govt hotels and travel with govt tourist agency...

Two weeks in Java from East to West. Spectacular craters in Mt Bromo area (The Lord of the Rings was supposed to be filmed here!!!), historical Jogja (Yogyakarta) full of tricky batik salesmens, relaxing Pangandaran and crazy busy Jakarta - all that in 93 pictures :)

Rock climbing at Mt Tinbeerwah and Kangaroo Point Cliffs, 2 sweet days in Brisbane and passing disappointed through Gold Coast. Whale watching at Port Macquarie and then back to Sydney. That's end of our Australian adventure but our trip continues. So keep coming back to our site :-)

Travelling Oz in Spaceship!

We spent two months in absolutely amazing camper - with always cooling big fridge, DVD player, comfy bed and unique back awnings which we loved especially during hot nights up North. Our Spaceship "Boomer" made with us almost 15,000 km without any problem. If you are planing to travel in Australia, New Zealand or in Europe go and check spaceships.tv and get one of those lovely small big campers!

In a few days we passed trough chilling lakes, waterfalls and tropical rainforests of Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, watched a funny looking Platypus (according to Aboriginal legend, the first platypus were born after a young female duck mated with a lonely and persuasive water-rat!), skipped sailing around Whitsundays Islands covered by dust storm but snorkeled on Beaver reef and around amazing reefs of Lady Musgrave Island...

Lovely National Park close to Darwin. Although it's smaller than Kakadu NP, it's full of scenic waterfalls and waterholes suitable for swimming (without crocs :)

We didn't have much time to say goodbye to you, but maybe it's because we will have one more chance. The truth is, it was really tough to escape from New Zealand ;)

Huuuuuuge THANKS for all your support, help, hugs, smiles and gifts. You won't be forgotten never-ever and that is also why you made it to this spam email from the roads :)

You wouldn't believe it, but after all the chaos before leaving New Zealand, we didn't miss our flight and made it to SAMOA at the end :) So you definitely won't see us - troublemakers - for next couple of months.

We are in Samoa almost 1 week, but all what we managed so far was to get on one of the colourful local buses (btw. Orange is still missing here), heading to most beautiful and charming place on south-east coast of Upolu Island, called Lalomanu; found our romantic beach fale (small basic hut made from wood and palm leaves) just 10m from the sea; done lots and lots of reading, swimming or snorkelling around coral reefs; walked to nearest village to admire their slow, laid-back lifestyle and to speak to locals, especially saying hello to kids; eaten Samoan specialities each evening (we've even broken our strict vegetarian diet and tried the yummy dead fish here); had fun on fiafia (traditional dance performance, fire-show together with singing) and last but not least we slept 10 hours a day. What a tropical paradise! :)

Last 2 days we were already bored with doing nothing, so we had to come to the city - Apia and find the internet café. Addiction after being online 24/7 last 2 years :)))

Today we are meeting our Czech friends Jana & Lukas from Dunedin, renting a car together and going all around the islands. Finally doing bit of travelling. Till now we were more lazy tourists than truly backpackers. For this simple reason, we will bring you more stories and pictures about Samoa in our next email.

Howick Historical Village

Skanzen v Howicku raz do mesiaca oziva vdaka mozstvu milych dobrovolnikov preoblecenych do dobovych kostymov. Postavicky ako vystrihnute z rozpravky. Je to uzasne divadlo, vdaka ktoremu sa prenesiete do konca 19 storocia.

We explored gardens and buildings in a Fencible settlement during the 1840 to 1880 period. There are over thirty original colonial buildings collected on site, including schools, a church, forge, liquor and general store. Cottages look as though family members have just stepped outside for a moment. Lovely and friendly volunteers in period costumes create the atmosphere of fairytale. Worth to visit (each 3rd Sunday in a month) while you are in Auckland :)

Great Barrier Island

Great Barrier Island je skrátka fasa! Vybrali sme sa tam s čechúňmi (Tom a Zuzka) a čmáralmi (Lukáš a Jana) a bolo nám super až nás z toho nohz boleli :-) The Barrier, ako ho domáci volajú, je vzdialený od Aucklandu 3 hodiny plavby trajektom. Je to ostrov kde by sa nebyť turistov zastavil čas asi navždy.

Kedze sme vianoce stravili na najjuznejsom mieste Noveho Zelandu, preco nepobudnut na Novy Rok v najsevernejsom kute krajiny :)
Nase novorocne putovanie po Northalnde sme zacali u Jany a Lukasa v Mangawhai Heads, pokracovali cez Matai Bay, surfovali na pieskovych dunach Ninety Mile Beach, nevynechali sme zahmleny majak na Cape Reinga a cestou nazad pozdravili majestatne stromy Kauri.

Zltooke tucnkiaky, tulene, plaze prechadzajuce do strhujucich utesov - to vsetko je oblast Catlins na juhu Juzneho ostrova...

Yelow eye pinguins, sea lions, beaches and dramatic clifs - thats all Catlins on the bottom of South Island...

Steward Island

Nase predvianocne dni na ostrove Steward Island. Je to viac menej najjuznejsi ostrov v NZ. Dostanete sa tam but malym trajektom za cca hodinku alebo lietadlom. 80% jeho uzemia zabera Rakiura National Park ktory je zatial poslednym zalozenym v NZ (2002). Velkou atrakciou ostrova su ciste plaze s krystalovo priezracnou vodou v ktorej plava mnozstvo ryb pritahujucich sportovych rybarov a hlavne lesy cez ktore sa da predierat niekolko dni a pozorovat uzasny faunu a floru. Na ostrove zije 20 tisic kiwikov ktory sa po nociach prechadzaju po plazi. My sme sa na ostrov vybrali povodne iba na dva dni no nakoniec sme si to tu predlzili este o jeden den a pozicali si na niekolko hodin kajak...

Our Xmas holidays on Steward Island. It's clear, clean waters, the lush rainforest, sweeping sands, flora and fauna and the unspoilt natural beauty made us stay there 3 days but we wish to come back again to spend more time on longer tramps or kayaking around the island :)

Vianoce majú byť v zime a tak sme sa ich rozhodli usporiadať. A skombinovať s Polkovimi narodkami samozrejme. Tak tu máte nejaké fotografie z vianoc na stredoeurópsky spôsob ;-)

Otestovali sme dalsiu lezecku lokalitu. Kusok nad Aucklandom je Ti Point. Skala nebola prilis prijemna na dotyk ale cesta tam a okolie za to stali :)

Tongariro Crossing

Vikend s bratrancom Karolom a jeho kamosom Marianom. Rozhodli sme sa pre znamy trek "Tongariro Crossing" kde sme po vystverani sa na vrchol do horneho kratera vosl do uplne ineho sveta plneho hmly v ktorej sa stracaly smaragdove jazera aj turisti :) (Karolove fotky z cesty po NZ tu.)

Weekend with cousin Karol and his friend Marian - we decided to do the Tongariro Crossing walk ended up in magic country where Emerald Lakes and tourist got lost in a fog ;)

Zopár fotiek z fjordov Milford Sound na Južnom ostrove. Nádherne útesy vzrastajúce zo zálivu do obrovských výšok pod ktorými sme sa plavili na kajakoch a turistickej lodi prenasledovanej delfínmi.

Zopár fotiek ktoré sme spravili po ceste z Rotorua do Aucklandu cez Bay of Plenty. Zastavili sme sa na pláži pod Mt. Manganui - surferskom raji a trochu sme si zablbli na boogie boarde ;-)

Grande final of year 2007! Amazing weather for climbing on (still active) volcano and breathtaking views on "Mt Doom" (Mt Ngauruhoe) famous from the movie trilogy Lord of The Rings. After this experience we had to add to our future plans few days hike trough Tongariro National Park...

Na najvyššiu horu Severného ostrova (2 796 m) sme si kôli času cestu čiastočne skrátili lanovkou no vďaka tomu sme stihli nádherne doobedné počasie a pervektnź výhľad na Mt Ngauruhoe - alias Hora Osudu z filmu Pán Prsteňov. Posledná erupcia Mt Ruapehu bola v roku 1995, no hora si zabublala aj v roku 2006.

Národný park Tongariro je územím kontrastov. Lávové polia, holá kamenitá pôda, čisté potoky, zasnežené vulkány, púšť, ale aj močariny, trsy trávy a všadeprítomný zápach síry. Centrum národného parku tvoria tri stále aktívne sopky: Tongariro, Ngaruahoe a Ruapehu, ktoré patria k najaktívnejším sopkám na celej zemeguli. Je to najstarší národný park na Novom Zélande bol založený v r. 1887 a je v zozname UNESCO.

Tak tu sú nejaké fotografie zo splavu, žiaľ nikto nebol natoľko odvážny aby mal foťák stále po ruke tak toto je všetko čo máme. A boli sme jediný kajak čo sa ani raz nepotopil :-p

(Facebook) - Potulky po okolí Aucklandu a naša prvá cesta von z mesta do Coromandlu, hornatého polostrova s obrovskými stromami Kauri v "treťohorných" pralesoch s palmami a stromovými papradinami. Relax na Hot Watter Beach, kde priamo z pláže vyvierajú horúce pramene a každý si môže vykopať svoju vlastnú termálnu vaňu. A samozrejme Cathedral Cove :-)
